Q-Expert — Visual Framework for Qlik Transformation Scripts

• Q-Expert is a visual design tool for the Transformation layer of a Qlik data model. It turns the work of writing hundreds of lines of LOAD script into an interactive canvas of nodes and connections — each node representing a table, a load, a JOIN, a CROSSTABLE, a variable — and generates the real, syntactically correct .qvs script from that diagram, ready to deploy to Qlik Sense or QlikView.

• Unlike a plain text editor, Q-Expert gives the Developer a complete structural view of the model: where each table comes from, what transformations it goes through, what it joins with, and where it flows to — all traceable in one click. And unlike a pure diagramming tool, what you see on the canvas is the script — not an approximation, and not separate documentation that drifts out of date. Change a node, and the generated script changes with it; nothing is maintained by hand in two places.

• Reverse Engineering, the other half of the product, works the other way around: it takes an existing .qvs script — a colleague's, a legacy project's, one written two years ago with no documentation — and automatically rebuilds its full canvas, node by node, with the same structural fidelity. Whatever it can't resolve with certainty is preserved verbatim as Raw Script instead of being guessed at, so not a single line of the original is ever lost or corrupted.

• Q-Expert works on top of files — QVD, Excel, CSV, TXT — and on sources already materialized in that Transformation layer. It deliberately does not step into the Extraction layer (direct SQL/ODBC database connections): that responsibility belongs to an earlier step in the data architecture, not to the problem Q-Expert solves.

• Built by and for Qlik Developers — it doesn't replace the technical judgment behind a model's design, it makes that design visible, editable, and transferable across people and projects.
